Our close proximity to Yosemite National Park 's Half Dome, El Capitan, Hetch Hetchy and Tuolumne Meadows, the Stanislaus National Forest , Cherry Lake , the Tuolumne , Clavey and Merced Rivers , San Jose and Berkeley Family Camps, Camp Tawonga and Camp Mather offers a virtual plethora of High-Sierra recreational activities. Outdoor adventure is endless: white water rafting, rock climbing, fly-fishing, hiking, mountain biking, cross country skiing, jet-skiing, snow shoeing, water skiing, cave touring, canoeing, kayaking, bird watching. Well, you get the picture.
We don't let infinite recreational activities prevent us from appreciating the many cultural opportunities available to us in the Gold Country. Groveland is a short, scenic drive to many wineries ~ our area is emerging as a key wine-producing region. Murphys hosts nearly a dozen family-owned and operated wineries including Ironstone Vineyards, Twisted Oak and Zucca Mountain Vineyards. Sonora boasts year-round repertory theatre groups and plenty of antique shopping. We are also close to Columbia State Historic Park, Jamestown and other historic gold-rush towns.
Music aficionados will appreciate our neighbors at the Strawberry Music Festival and our next door neighbor, the oldest, continuously operating saloon in California, the Iron Door Saloon that regularly hosts musical greats at incredible prices.
You won't hear anyone claim boredom around these parts!
